At Signature Smiles, our primary goal is to provide all of our patients with a healthy mouth. We understand that importance of oral health and how it affects the overall health of a person. Along with a healthy smile, we know how important it is to have a beautiful smile, which is why we encourage the use of cosmetic dentistry treatments like teeth whitening.
What is Teeth Whitening?
Tooth discoloration is a common aesthetic problem. This is typically caused by the constant consumption of dark foods and drinks. Daily coffee drinkers experience this discoloration, as well as those who drink wine regularly. Regardless of the daily consumption of certain products, time is typically the main factor. Teeth lose their shine over time, which is why teeth whitening is such a high demand procedure. At our Houston dental offices, we offer two types of professional whitening options: at-home and in-office.

Types of Teeth Whitening
- At-Home Teeth Whitening – These take-home teeth whitening systems utilize a customized tray created by the dentist that keeps the whitening agent on the teeth. This type of teeth whitening ensures that all areas of the teeth become whitened. It is an extremely accurate method.
- In-Office Teeth Whitening – This is the quickest method to whitening teeth. This is approximately a 45 minute procedure performed with a combination of light and chemical agents. The procedure is divided into 3 separate 15-minute visits. The real positive is that you will see results even after only one appointment.
- Bleaching Trays – This type of teeth whitening can be done at home and requires consistent treatment to be effective. This process could take several weeks to achieve great results. The timeline will also vary if the patient continues to consume products that can stain the teeth. Food and beverage stains will delay this process of teeth whitening.
- Toothpaste – This is the most cost effective teeth whitening process. There are several toothpaste companies that offer teeth whitening toothpaste that use mild abrasives and chemicals to remove stains.
